Ah Friday Night Magic reports, how I missed thee. These reports used to give me an excuse to write something for the site every week, as well as shine a spotlight on the competitive scene in Victoria.

So, Timespiral is upon us. I was really excited for this set, especially after I started playing on MWS, getting to try out all these cool cards that were around before I started playing. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

When I heard Canadian nationals was in Ottawa this year and that ex-Victoria magic player Charles Starling was currently living in Ottawa, I was definitely down to hit up the tournament this year.

Coldsnap is about to be launched into Standard, and so a few things will change naturally, but nothing like I expected with dissension. Let’s take a look at some of the cards that WILL be played, and some that WON’T.

You stare at it for hours. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense, sometimes it makes you want to break your computer screen and burn your cards… and sometimes it laughs at you.

This adventure really started two nights before Regionals when I was jiving with Jason Gray about transportation plans and what to play at the tournament. Jason sent me a decklist for Magnivore and said, “play this, it’s going to win Regionals” — eerie.

Next to Unglued drafting, two headed giant is the most fun that I’ve had in Magic. I’m a very social player, and this format lends itself well to those of us who like to chew the fat as much as we like to play.
