Dave Herder asked me the night before regionals how I could keep doing it. Work until 11 at FNM, then eat, do some prep, and maybe drink and party until about 3am, then sleep for 2hours and go play a tournament in Vancouver. I replied that I felt I really had no choice. Even if I was off work at 6pm the day before my trip to Vancouver I would still probably stay up until the wee hours with excitement.

A Pictorial Report of PT Austin, part 1 by Albert and Nelson

This tournament trip started out in the aftermath off Gavin Verhey’s win in Vancouver. We had been considering it since it was posted early in the summer, but we had to ride out our first post-Josh Layne metagame PTQ in Van to decide if we wanted to go.

So it’s Monday afternoon and I, Nelson, am at the key board. Nick is at my left, pulling out the crumpled receipt-size slips of paper on which he recorded life totals. I will now attempt to cranial extract the story of Nick’s rise to power.

Rather than attempt to start my photo essaying career with something worth looking into like “the Dying Rainforests”, or “Gorillas of Jane Goodall’s basement”, i thought i would just jump straight to the desperate, flailing out end of my career and entreat you my only reader with the piece mentioned above.

Next to Unglued drafting, two headed giant is the most fun that I’ve had in Magic. I’m a very social player, and this format lends itself well to those of us who like to chew the fat as much as we like to play.
